Non abbiamo mai nascosto l'amore per le Bands che arrivano dalla Scandinavia (ma non solo ovviamente..) e quindi iniziamo l'anno nuovo andando nelle fredde terre della Finlandia a conoscere gli Hats & Caps..
RTC) Short story of the band and why you chose hats & caos as a name
H&C) We started the band 2018. There wasn't any proper Oi! bands left in Finland at that time so we decided we need to fill the void.
RTC) Are band members involved in other music projects or have been in the past?
H&C) Yes, we all have and Janne still is. Janne sings and plays guitar in The Pistones, they are pretty good, you should check them out if you don't know them and if you like mod rock. I've been in quite a few punk/hardcore bands when I was young but nothing worth a mention. Riku and Tommi both played guitar in hardcore band Watch Your Back.
RTC) What are your musical influences?
H&C) Bonecrusher, The Business, Blitz, Slade, Rose Tattoo, AC/DC just to name a few.
RTC) How Is the oi scene in Finland nowadays and what could be done to make It Better?
H&C) Oi scene in Finland is really small these days. If we get 50 people to the gig, that's a lot. I honestly have no idea how to make it better. We play with punk bands (who dares to play with us), so maybe through that we get more people into Oi.
RTC) What's the band attitude towards politics?
H&C) We are not a political band. Yes, we have political lyrics about our frustration towards today's society, but our lyrics don't lean on either side.
RTC) You are now under KB records, under Krawallbruder umbrella, can we consider your band together with Krawallbruder, Haymaker, Martens Army and the new Born Eastside Dogs a sort of "Greyzone"?
H&C) KB and Pascal has been really good to us. I will never forget that Oberhausen gig as we will never be playing for as big crowd as we did then. For me that "greyzone" tag sounds a bit stupid. We are a skinhead Oi band and we play with who ever we want to play. How does that make you "greyzone"? Isn't that what Oi is supposed to be? I think that's even what punk should be, do what you want and have fun doing it.
RTC) How was playing together with Krawallbruder and Haymaker in London?
H&C) That was fun gig. Lot's of boozing with great people.
RTC) How many works have you released until now? Is there something new ahead?
H&C) We have done on 7 inch, one full length album and a split 12 inch with Eastside Dogs. We have recorded songs for two upcoming split 7 inches with two Swedish bands and those will be out someday, no idea when. We are also going to studio early next year, to record our second full length album.
RTC) Are there any finnish oi bands you could recommend to US?
H&C) Laki & Järjestys, Bulldozer, Tammerfist, The Wrongdoers, Fist Season, Common Voice etc.
RTC) Do You go or went to football? If so, what's your favorite team?
H&C) Me and Janne follow football, Tommi and Riku doesn't. My favourite team is Chelsea (unfortunately haven't been able to go to the Bridge in a while), Janne follows Liverpool.
RTC) Ok, the interview Is over, something left to Say?
H&C) Hopefully we'll get more gigs next year, couple good ones are brewing at least! Kippis!
Ringraziamo gli Hats & Caps per il tempo che ci hanno dedicato e vi lasciamo una loro canzone tratta dal canale youtube, dove ne troverete molte altre...
Cheers & Beers
