From Liverpool with.. Alcohol...

Aggiornamento: 28 nov 2024

Dai bassifondi della città dei "REDS", trovandoli in un momento di sobrietà (..o quasi..)siamo riusciti a intervistare gli Steet Punk Drunks

RTC) Ehi Guys Can you tell us a short story of the band and why have you chosen this name?

SPD) We formed in 2007. The original guitarist lasted one and a half practices, before going home hungover. We played our first gig as a 3-piece 15 days after our first practice. That line up lasted one gig, as the bass player kept missing rehearsals.

The band was originally going to ne called Skinflints.

Before the first practice I came up with the name Streetpunk Drunks. And before the first practice I had written three sets of lyrics, Drink Till You Drop, I Want More Beer, and Streetpunk Drunks. All the lyrics are about alcohol.

RTC) How many works have you released? is there any releases ahead?

SPD) We have released one Album 'Alcohol Abuse' on Special Brew Records. We've recorded over 30 demo songs. Our philosophy was write them, then record them. Our guitarist has recorded new music. We just need to put some lyrics together, and add vocals.

RTC) Why do you self produce?

SPD) If you release music yourself, then you own what you create. There are many bands over the years who have sold their music away and publishing rights away.

RTC) Which are your musical influences?

SPD) George Formby.... (Who Is ?!?!?! LOL)

RTC) Why do you support real oi scene and what does that mean to you?

SPD) There should only be one Oi! scene. Unfortunately there are certain bands who won't play with other bands, because they're basically cowards.

The bands we play with, or gigs we go to are always attended by wonderful people. Maybe if these freaks sitting at home wanking themselves off over the latest issue of the morning star actually came to a gig they might enjoy themselves.

RTC) How is the scene in the area you live? and in Uk in general?

There was one other Oi! band in Liverpool a few years ago called 'Order 84' (there's two of their full gigs on my youtube channel) They were kids aged around 16 - 18. They just vanished.

In the UK there are not so many gigs. So often it's the same bands playing together.

RTC) Which is your favorite alcoholic drink?

SPD The next one.... (RTC...Maybe we have wrong the question...LOL)

RTC) You are in the scene for longtime, what has changed today respect how it was just a few years ago?

When we first started all bands played together. There was lots of gigs happening. Unfortunately some has beens who hadn't written a half decent song since the 1980's got jealous of the newer bands.

In order to ensure they still got gigs these has been bands started dividing the scene.

RTC) What are your songs about?

SPD) On our album 'Alcohol Abuse' half the songs are about Alcohol. The first song on the album 'Billy England' is about an old soldier who struggles to survive. No one cares about him, and people will only care about him when he dies.

RTC) How was playing in Italy?

SPD) If we hadn't played Italy we wouldn't exist. We had split up, then got offered the Italy gig. Maybe one day we'll come back with a full line up.

RTC) Do you go to or went to football? if so which team do you support? do you have something left to say?

SPD) I support Liverpool. Our current owners saved the club. The owners before them nearly put our club out of business.

Cheers and Fucking Beers!!!!
