Oi! without fucking Frills : The Buzzers

righttochoosewebzi

Restiamo in Canada anche oggi ma andiamo nella costa pacifica e più precisamente a Vancouver per sentire Benny dei "The Buzzers"....

RTC) How and when was the band born and the members, tell us the hystory of band

TBS) We started spitballing with just two of us at the end of 2018. That sounds crazy when I think about it. It was just me (Benny) and a mate on drums. We rounded up a couple other pals to jam with and tried to get on the same page, which proved to be easier said than done. But after a few lineup changes over the years we’re finally settled with an all-new solid gang. It’s me on vocals, Mike (Ultra Sect / Suede Razors / Alternate Action / Etc.) on guitar, Matt (The Enforcers / Alternate Action, Etc.) on drums, and Lauren (Toy Tiger) on bass.

RTC) How can we call your style of playing? which are your musical influences?

TBS) Rough and catchy no frills Oi!. We all love the same shit, so you’re likely to hear a bit of the classics in our music.

RTC) What are your lyrics about? what do you stand for?

TBS) Our songs cover the usual issues that come up for skinheads, or just trying to get by these days. The good the bad and the ugly! Should go without saying but we don’t have time for prejudice, life’s too short for assholes.

RTC) What's your favourite beer or alcoholic drink?

TBS) As for myself, if it’s cold and I’m hot I ain’t too picky. I’ll take an aperol spritz anytime baby, just keep me away from the whiskey. Lauren loves a good sour.

The local brewery across the street from our jam space hits the spot most days!

RTC) Speak about the Oi! and Punk scene in your Area and Country

TBS) There’s a load of top shelf stuff coming out of Canada.

Montreal has some real heavy hitters, their Oi! Fest always brings it proper, and there’s a lot of great stuff coming out of Toronto and across the prairies to the coast.

It’s good to see more happening.

RTC) Can you mention the most important gigs you did?

TBS) We played a hell of a fun one in Victoria, that was a bloody good weekend. It’s on the island and a lot of our mates are over there so it’s just a great time. A bunch of peanuts clunkin’ around having a blast, what more could you want? (RTC...Hell Yeah Benny!!!!)

RTC) Do you suggest us other bands in your country ?

TBC) Absolutely. I’ll just rattle a few off: No Heart, Tranzmitors, The Prowlers, Black Dogs, Ultra Razzia, Reckless Upstarts, First Attack, and tons more.

RTC) How much works (CD,LP Etc.) have you released ?

TBC) We’ve got three releases out so far; our demo (digital only), a solo ep I recorded during the first covid lockdown (asp digital only but there’s talk of pressing and re-releasing it as a 7”) and a 7” single. Plus our new ep test pressings are on the way, and we’ve got new songs on a couple scorching compilations coming out soon. We’re damn happy with these new songs. Sharp and tough.

RTC) Do you go to Stadium ? is yes, which team you support ?

TBS) Go Whitecaps! That’s our Vancouver team. Also Mike’s an Arsenal man all the way.

RTC) Would you like to play in Italy? do you know Italian scene ? what you think about it ?

TBS) We love Italy and most of us have been there a few times, although not as The Buzzers… yet! We wanna put a tour together soon. You’ve got a lot of great bands. I saw Stanley a few years back, that was a really good show. Nabat rules (RTC...Yeah, we are in compliance with you about this)

RTC) So, the interview is Over, say something to ?

TBS) Cheers and thanks for the love, check our bandcamp and Instagram for updates, hopefully we’ll get our arses over there soon!

Cheers & Beers
