The Real Class Of Oi! from Poland

righttochoosewebzi

Wiktor dei Lazy Class ci ha fatto il piacere di rispondere alle nostre domande e a raccontarci un pò di loro e della scena in Polonia.

RTC) Ciao Wiktor, How and when was the band born and the members, tell us the hystory of band

LCS) Lazy Class started at 2013 in Warsaw, Poland as four piece band. Since that time we have plenty of line up changes and I’m the only original member. From the beginning we were focused on releasing stuff regularly and play as many gigs as we can although last few years were pretty slow for us. But 2025 should give us a bit more opportunities to mark our presence in scene.

Today’s Lazy Class is: Misiek – bass, Kuba – drums, and me, Wiktor on guitar and vocals.

RTC) How can we call your style of playing? which are your musical influences?

LCS) Guess best way to describe our music is just oi/street punk. Through the years we’ve try some different sound styles, some times we played more melodic, sometimes more raw and aggressive way. Right now our sound in my opinion is more rough and hard hitting than before. You will check it in a few weeks when our new album will be out.

When it comes to inspirations our music is influenced by whole spectrum of punk, hardcore and even some metal music. Of course main influence is oi & street punk, both old, classic stuff but also contemporary bands. All guys in the band are much in the scene for years, checking new bands and keeping up to date on what is going out on the international punk scene.

RTC) What are your lyrics about? what do you stand for?

LCS) I would say that our lyrics are somewhere between personal and socio-political stuff with a little touch of history. Even tough our name, Lazy Class, might sound a bit fun we keep it serious as it going to the lyrics. I’ve really tried to write some fun lyrics but it’s definitely not my cup of tea. Guess I’m a stuffed shirt haha.

What we’re sanding for? Maybe I’ll just quote our song from upcoming album “Old school values, like carved in the rock, respect, love, and loyalty”.

RTC) What's your favourite beer or alcoholic drink?

LCS) If you would  asked me a year ago I would say none because I had few years pause form dinking alcohol. Right now I enjoy some Jägermeister with coke from time to time.

RTC) Speak about the Oi! and Punk scene in your Area and Country.

LCS) Poland has pretty decent punk & hardcore scene and small oi scene. Unfortunately my impression is that it’s getting smaller and smaller every year. Despite of this we still keep it alive. There are lot of great bands, gigs, festivals and labels.

RTC) Can you mention the most important gigs you did?

LCS) It’s hard because for me personally every gig is important and it really doesn’t matter if we play for 20 ppl in some basement or on the festival for few hundreds. I just love to do it. Playing in a band gave me to opportunity to visit places I’ve never been before and meet so much great people so I appreciate every gig we have played. Maybe except for the few we screwed up haha.

RTC) Do you suggest us other bands in your country ?

LCS) Yeah why not! Check those: Jad, Incident, Cop off!, Deat Tahiti, Prorva, Träume, Hollowman. Don't miss other bands that Lazy Class members are involved in: Criminal Tango, NOC and Royal Kids of 1977!

RTC) How much works (CD,LP Etc.) have you released ?

LCS) Our discography looks like this:

Eps:

“Better Life” – 2014 Rebellion

“Pressure Rising” – 2017 Spirit Of The Streets

Rude Pride/Lazy Class split ep – 2019 Contra

MLP:

“Hell of San Domingo” – 2015 Rebellion

LPs:

Lazy Class/ Max Cady – split 2015 No Pasaran/ Black Wednesday/ Bad Look

“Interesting Times” – 2018 Contra, Oldschool

“s/t” – 2021 Contra, Tough Ain’t Enough

Our songs were also featured on several compilations during those years.

RTC) Do you go to Stadium ? is yes, which team you support ?

LCS) No, I’m totally not into football. Music is a drug of mine!

RTC) Would you like to play in Italy? do you know italian Oi! and Punk scene ?

LCS) Yes, sure! Italy is one of the few European countries we’ve never been played in. So promoters from Italy don’t hesitate more! We’re ready!

Regarding the second question, yes, of course I know Italian scene. Nabat & Klasse Kriminale we’re one of my formative bands when I was a teen. I still consider “Un Altro Giorno Di Gloria” as one of top records of Oi! Music. I was also into classic Italian hardcore like Raw Power (in two weeks my second band NOC will support them on one of their Poland shows), Negazione or Wretched.

Other Italian bands I’m into are: Colona Infame, Payback, Dead End Street, Dirty Job, Bomber 80, Derozer, Giuda, Horror Vacui, Billy Boy e la sua Banda, The Vendetta… I’ will probably find more of them. Ohh and of course everybody in Poland knows Los Fastidios, they are playing gigs here regularly.

RTC) So, the interview is Over, say something to ?

LCS) Max, thank you very much in your interest in our band! We’ really appreciate it!

Our new record called “The dawn to come” will be out on April on our friend label Bad Look Records so stay alert and check it when it’s out!

Go to gigs, buy records, support the bands and don’t let our culture to fade out!
